La marque britannique dévoile une nouvelle édition limitée de sa V12 Speedster en hommage à la légendaire DBR1, victorieuse des 24h du Mans 1959. Un peu plus d’un an après sa présentation, l’Aston Martin V12 Speedster se voit offrir un relooking rétro » des plus élégants. Annoncée dans une série limitée à 88 exemplaires, la barquette à deux places, contemporaine des Ferrari SP2 et autre McLaren Elva, rend ici cette hommage à la légendaire DBR1, victorieuse du Mans 1959. 100 ans d’histoire nous contemplent Conçue uniquement pour la piste, la DBR1 ne fut produite qu’à cinq exemplaires en 1956. Parmi ses nombreux faits d’armes sportifs, citons des victoires à la Spa Sportscar Race 1957, au Goodwood Tourist Trophy 1958 et 59 et aux 1000 km du Nurburgring 1957, 58 et 59. Sans oublier son triomphe aux 24 heures du Mans 1959 avec le titre mondial des voitures de sport à la clé. Au-delà de son statut dicône de la course, la DBR1 fut aussi précurseur de certaines des routières DB » les plus connues de la marque. Une Speedster aux airs de DBR1 Les hommages à la DBR1 sont donc légion à bord et à l’extérieur de la V12 Speedster, à commencer par sa livrée Aston Martin Racing Green, mais aussi ses équipements Clubsport et son système d’échappement. Citons aussi une calandre argent satiné, avec un graphisme Clubsport, une sellerie cuir Caithness Green et des jantes de 21 » en noir satiné. V8 biturbo L à 700 chevaux Au cœur du Speedster, une variante haute performance du V12 biTurbo de 5,2 L datant de la DBS. Le bloc, d’une puissance de 700 chevaux pour un couple de 753 Nm, est associé à une transmission automatique ZF à 8 rapports montée à l’arrière. De quoi emmener la machine de 0 à 100 km/h en 3,4 secondes pour une vitesse maximale de 318 km/h ! Aston Martin annonce que les commandes pour sa nouvelle V12 Speedster DBR1 sont en cours, chacune étant construite à la main à l’usine Gaydon. Les livraisons devraient commencer à la mi-2021. Si la première version de la V12 Speedster se négociait sur certains marchés à environ 850 000€, il y a fort à parier que cette série spéciale devrait faire dans le beaucoup plus cher. Called the DBS 59’, each is identified by bespoke design features, hand-crafted interiors and graphic elements drawing directly from the DBR1 and the race it so famously marque synonymous with success in the world’s toughest endurance race – the most recent being a dramatic class win for the V8 Vantage GTE in last year’s race – Aston Martin’s outright victory in the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans is the stuff of motorsport legend. Facing stern opposition from works Ferrari and Porsche entries, plus a team of Ecurie Ecosse Jaguars, the David Brown Racing Aston Martin DBR1s fought valiantly to score a famous 1-2 finish in a masterful display of pace, reliability and described by Sir Stirling Moss – who helped Aston Martin win the 1959 World Sportscar Championship – as the most important Aston Martin ever produced’, the DBR1 has deservedly attained iconic status. Just five were built between 1956 and 1959, making it one of the rarest Aston Martins ever, and when one last went to auction at Monterey in 2017 it set a new world record as the most valuable British-made car ever with a sale price of £ $ identifiable by its timelessly beautiful Aston Martin Racing Green paintwork, the DBS 59 features extensive use of gloss finish Carbon Fibre, most strikingly on the roof, roof strake and painted bonnet louvres. A classic combination of Obsidian Black and Chestnut Tan leather is used throughout the interior, together with fabric inspired by the DBR1 seat material used to trim the DBS 59’s’ seat backs and door inserts. Bronze detailing is strategically deployed around the exterior and interior, with the front grille surround, Superleggera’ bonnet script, rear Aston Martin script and Q Fender Badge amongst the items Q by Aston Martin detailing include bespoke Saddle Leather Helmet Pods in the rear compartment to hold special DBS 59’ crash helmets, race suits and gloves, and a bespoke DBS 59’ logo embroidered in the seat headrests. Currentlythe C70 DBR1 special edition is out of stock at Christopher Ward website. But whenavailable they cost 1.950,- UK pounds (approx. 2.350,- euro).
